Company Policies
At Pines & Pen, the goal is to provide professional, compliant, and convenient notarial services. Please review the policies before booking an appointment, and please reach out with any questions you may have.
Scope of Services
Pines & Pen is owned and operated by Olivia Barrasso, a commissioned, bonded, and insured Notary Public, authorized under North Carolina law to perform lawful notarial acts. Services may include acknowledgments, jurats, oaths, affirmations, and other notarial acts permitted under North Carolina state law. Please note that a notary public cannot determine what type of notarization is required for your document. Clients are responsible for knowing which notarial act is needed prior to the appointment.
No Legal Advice
Pines & Pen is not a law firm, and I, Olivia Barrasso, am not an attorney and/or authorized to practice law. I do not provide legal advice, prepare legal documents, select documents for you, or interpret the legal effect of any document. If you have any questions about your legal rights, responsibilities, the legality of a document, or the meaning or consequences of a document, you should contact a licensed attorney before your appointment.
Notarial Act Fees
Notarial act fees are charged in accordance with North Carolina statutory limits.
Travel Fees
Pines & Pen offers mobile notary services and charges travel-related fees separate from notarial act fees. Travel fees compensate for mileage, fuel, and vehicle-related expenses. By booking a mobile appointment, you acknowledge and agree that your booking will include a written travel fee agreement as required under North Carolina law. Travel fees and mileage are disclosed and agreed upon in advance of travel.
Copies and Additional Services
For your convenience, Pines & Pen offers a range of support services beyond notarization to ensure your documents are completed and delivered seamlessly.
These services may include, but are not limited to, document printing and copies, scanning and electronic delivery, postage and mailing services, envelopes, packaging, and other necessary supplies, and courier coordination and document drop-off.
Because each request varies in scope, complexity, and time required, pricing for these services is provided on a case-by-case basis. All associated costs, including materials, postage, and handling, will be clearly communicated and agreed upon in advance.
We’re happy to tailor a solution that meets your needs. Please contact us for a customized quote.
Payment Policy
Payment is due at the time services are rendered. Third party payors will receive an invoice within 24 hours of services rendered. Invoice payments are due upon receipt.
Cancellations & No-Shows
Please provide at least 6 hours’ notice for rescheduling or cancellations.
Facility Visits
Appointments at hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, jails, detention centers, correctional facilities, military bases, or other restricted-access locations are subject to each facility’s rules and regulations. While the Notary may have familiarity with some locations, this does not create an obligation to ensure access or compliance. The Notary will arrive fully prepared and comply with all legal and professional requirements. If failure to meet these requirements results in the facility cancelling your appointment, you will receive a full refund. Clients are responsible for confirming facility requirements in advance.
Confidentiality & Record-Keeping
All client information is kept confidential and stored securely in an electronic record-keeping system with reasonable safeguards. Notarial records are maintained as required by North Carolina law. Copies of your records may be requested, electronic copies are provided at no charge.
